HEALTH AND SAFETY INDUCTION
Following the email sent to you or your employer, please read all the below information carefully and agree to the rules set out below at the bottom of the page for Merchant City Festival 2024. Once finished, complete the form to act as proof that you have been inducted.
General
The Merchant City Festival operates under The Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 and associated regulations. In order to fulfil the duties set out under the Construction (Design & Management) Regulation 2015 you must undertake a site induction and you must complete this induction satisfactorily before starting work on site.
Under GDPR your information will be kept for a minimal period of time, once the event is complete your information will be permanently removed from our database.
Please complete the induction below and then click the submit button to acknowledge you have read and understood the induction. A confirmation email will be sent to you to confirm you have completed the induction, please check your Junk mailbox if you do not receive this confirmation email.

Event Information
The Event Site Manager is Jenni Rothwell and can be contacted on email: jenni.rothwell@glasgowlife.org.uk or 07751852295.
The event will run from Friday 19 July – Sunday 21 July 2024. There will be a mix of performers and street traders scheduled between 12:00 and 18:00 each day.
Access and Accreditation
You must complete this induction and ensure your name is submitted BEFORE arrival at venue. Please bring your induction acknowledgement email with you when arriving at site.
The Security Team will check your email acknowledgement and issue you with accreditation, if you do not already have it.
You must have your accreditation visible and on your person at all times while on site.
Any person or vehicle accessing the site will be subject to a search on entry, exit or both.

PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)
You will need a High Viz vest as a minimum whilst working on site (yellow or orange only), suitable for maximum visibility.
Other PPE will be defined by the activity and your companies RAMS – Hard hats will be required when overhead works are being carried out, harnesses and work positioning equipment for any works at height will be required.
Fire Safety
In the event that a fire alert is raised during the build and break, please make your way to Assembly Point at Commonwealth House, 38 Albion Street, Glasgow, G1 1LH.
You will be shown Assembly Point when you first arrive on site.
Do not call 999 as this will be done by Venue Management Team.
First Aid
Contractors are responsible for providing First Aid for their staff, however there will be medical provision, contracted by Glasgow Life through Alphamed, on site at all times during build and break.
During the event there will be a Medical tent/cabin which will be identified on arrival.
Welfare/Catering Facilities
Toilet facilities will be available throughout the build and break period.
There will be water and provision to boil water (kettle) available on-site during build and break.
A drying area, shelter and suncream will be made available on request.
Site Rules
The speed limit on site is 5mph, this must be adhered to in public areas or areas of high activity.
Riding on the back of trailers is prohibited
Vehicles are to use flashing orange beacons or dipped headlights, no hazard lights
No driving on pavements without express permission from Site Manager
Under no circumstances should keys be left in unattended vehicles
Access routes and emergency exits must remain unobstructed and kept clear at all times.
Any person suspected of working under the influence of alcohol or drugs will be removed from site
There is no smoking/vaping permitted in the tents on venue .
Smoking will only be permitted in the designated smoking area. This area will be well away from any flammable materials, waste or gas stored on site.
Please leave any equipment or materials tidily – all waste should be disposed of in the bins provided.
Treat every individual on site with dignity and respect
Only access areas you have been given permission to enter
Wear your accreditation and ensure it is visible at all times while on site.
All accidents/near misses must be reported to Site Management Team
Report anything you witness that concerns you while on site to Site Manager.
